Kelly Carlton is a designer, creative director, and educator with over 20 years of experience in motion design, branding, and visual storytelling. Based in Los Angeles for much of his career, he has led award-winning teams on high-profile campaigns for films including The Dark Knight, The Da Vinci Code, Batman Begins, Alice Through the Looking Glass, and The Expendables. His work spans theatrical advertising, main title design, visual effects, and corporate identity across film, television, and digital platforms.
In 2016, Kelly joined the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) as Chair of the Motion Media Design department. During his eight-year leadership, the program earned six consecutive #1 global rankings from The Rookies, and continues to be a benchmark for motion design education worldwide.
Now a full-time professor at SCAD, Kelly remains actively involved in professional and academic work, mentoring emerging designers while contributing to creative projects, research, and interdisciplinary collaboration. His practice bridges industry and education, with a focus on innovation in motion design, branding, and visual communication.
